Dear Prophets, Ladies, & Brothers,

It is with humility, honor and pleasure that I accept the role of being your chosen Monarch for 2018.

The Grotto is an important and charitable fraternal organization.  Through the Grotto, we promote generosity and good fellowship.  As Brothers we work together to make a positive difference. Our goal is to bring children with challenges to a dental specialist best suited for addressing the appropriate care for that child.  These children are challenged by either Cerebral Palsy or Muscular Dystrophy or a similar, crippling disease making dental treatment a uniquely demanding task.

We raise funds to support their dentistry needs through a Humanitarian Foundation. Past Monarch Jim Jackson Jr. is our Dr. Smiles, and shares an unwavering commitment to ensuring that all our participating children receive the very best dental care possible. Supporting him is our primary goal.

In addition, I have three goals for the coming year.

First, I want to increase our membership. We can do more if there are more of us and I will challenge every member of this Grotto to talk about us and to encourage their brothers to join us.

Second, I want to increase the attendance at our meetings. We will do that by emulating the Scottish Rite and making all our meetings open meetings. We will encourage every member to bring a wife or significant other to every meeting except the election meeting in November.

Third, I want to make our meetings more meaningful. To do that we will invite speakers and entertainers to make each meeting more memorable.

Thank you all for coming. I wish all of you a most joyful, healthy and safe holiday season.

Sincerely,

Barry Deutsch

Monarch

feramo-144-tThe Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, whose subordinate bodies are the Grottoes, is an organization by and for Master Masons. Its membership is restricted absolutely and exclusively to Master Masons in good standing. Although it is primarily an organization for good wholesome fun and frolic, it also has its serious side. Its slogan is GOOD FELLOWSHIP, and in contact with our fellowman, this principle is exemplified to a marked degree.

The Toothbrush Program allows Grotto Members and their Ladies to interact with the public to introduce the Grottoes of North America and their charitable endeavors. Toothbrushes are distributed in a public area where the members have an opportunity to talk and explain what the Grotto is and what they do. Donations are gratefully accepted and Enchanted Lanterns are issued to the Grotto for the funds deposited. The donations are placed into the charitable trust and used to help fund the Dental Care for Children with Special Needs program.
